Don’t Let Winter Weather Rain on Your Drive-Thru Sound Quality

Clear customer-to-crewmember communications is essential for fast, accurate service in the drive-thru. But the snow, sleet, wind and mud that comes with winter weather can often affect your outdoor drive-thru parts in ways that degrade sound quality.

  • To minimize external noise, place your order post in a protected spot, such as behind a building or facing away from traffic noise.

  • Use trees, shrubs or walls to shield the order point from excessive noise.

  • Install a speaker post with separate sound chambers.

  • Make sure the inbound microphone is situated close to the customer's speaking level – about 42” above the pavement. Install a sound screen to help block wind and other noises.

  • To minimize feedback, place the outbound speaker also at least two feet from the microphone.

  • To prevent rattling noises, regularly check the speaker to ensure it remains tightly mounted to the post.

These steps will go a long way towards maintaining good sound quality. When your outside drive-thru parts need repair or replacement, call the experts at CE Repairs: 877-731-0334.
