Three Ways to Get Rid of Gibberish in Your Drive-Thru

August 19, 2019 ·

When customers place an order in your drive-thru lane, does it often sound like they’re speaking gibberish? If so, there could be several causes for it. Here are some possible solutions.

  1. Your outside microphone and speakers need cleaning. It doesn’t take much to degrade sound quality, and dust, debris and other small particles can easily build up in these sensitive instruments. Keeping these drive-thru parts clean and well-maintained can help improve sound quality.
  2. The speaker post may be too far from the customer’s car window. Don’t make customers climb half-way out of their cars to reach the microphone. Make sure it’s at the right level and distance from the customer’s window.
  3. Your headsets allow too much extraneous noise into the conversation between order takers and crewmembers. If your headset doesn’t have up-to-date technology for reducing inbound and outbound noise, it’s time to upgrade to a high-definition audio headset.
