I’ve been in the fast food business a long time; long enough to remember when QSRs operated with manual drive-thru intercom systems rather than today’s sophisticated wireless headsets.
Talk about low technology! It used to be that when a customer pulled into the lane, the order taker had to push a button to greet them and ask for the order. Then the customer had to push another button to communicate their order. And the sound quality was awful. Not surprisingly, it took a long time to process the order and we often got it wrong. But customers thought it was great because they didn’t have to get out of their cars to order a meal.
Fast-forward to today and modern drive-thru systems have come a long way. Headsets are better, sound is clearer, drive-thru timer systems capture data in real time, and you can even make changes remotely via the Internet.
My favorite innovation, by far, is the high-definition audio headset drive-thru system. The sound is so clear, it’s almost like you’re sitting next to the customer as they order. Thanks to the superb sound quality, we rarely make order mistakes anymore.
When I decided to upgrade to high-def headsets, I got mine from CE Repairs. They sell and repair the EOS | HD from HME, and as a long-time customer I knew if I had any problems with the system CE would take good care of me. If you haven’t tried high-def headsets yet, I would highly recommend them. Your customers and crewmembers will love them!
